Today, Snake River Stone specializes in custom quartz countertops, granite countertops, quartzite installations, luxury stone fabrication, and high-end residential remodeling projects throughout Idaho and beyond. From dramatic waterfall islands and custom outdoor kitchens to fireplace stonework and specialty architectural features, every project we complete reflects the same attention to detail and personalized care that has defined our company from the beginning.
Based in Meridian, Idaho, we proudly serve homeowners throughout Boise, McCall, Donnelly, Cascade, Sun Valley, Idaho Falls, and surrounding communities within a 100-mile radius. We also travel nationwide for select luxury residential projects.
Where It All Began
The story of Snake River Stone began in 1978 in Portland, Oregon, where Mike Norton and Dave Neerman operated a successful tile business focused on upper-end private homes. For fourteen years, they worked closely with a trusted group of builders and designers, developing a reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliable service.
Those early years established the foundation that still guides Snake River Stone today — build strong relationships, provide exceptional workmanship, and always put the customer first.
In 1992, Mike relocated to Boise, Idaho, seeking a better quality of life and the opportunity to be closer to family and friends. After moving to Idaho, he founded Mike’s Tile And Marble and quickly became involved in high-end residential construction projects throughout the area.
While working with Evans Brothers Builders, Mike began collaborating with Craig and PDX on granite fabrication projects. Mike would create templates and handle installations while Craig fabricated the stone surfaces. This partnership marked the beginning of Mike’s expansion into the stone fabrication industry.
Not long after, Mike opened the second stone fabrication business in the Boise area and spent the following years continuing to grow his expertise in granite, quartz, and natural stone installations. Eventually, he opened his own fabrication shop in Nampa, Idaho, where the business continued to evolve into what is now Snake River Stone.

In April of 2021, Greg Nakagawa became part owner of Snake River Stone after years of working within the company and helping shape its growth. Greg brought a fresh vision, expanded industry expertise, and a renewed focus on growing the granite and natural stone side of the business.
Together, Mike and Greg have continued building Snake River Stone around a simple but important goal: providing customers with professional-quality craftsmanship and a hassle-free experience from start to finish.
